Planning Your Move
We’ve been moving families since 1895, so we know that physically shifting boxes is only half of the process. The key to a successful move is planning!
But don’t panic if you have no idea how to start preparing for your forthcoming move. Our professional Move Managers have compiled a 3 planning stages summary for you:
Start early
We advise that you start planning early. Unless you’re only moving a few bits, we normally suggest you arrange a free survey as soon as possible. You may not have a moving date yet, but we still recommend that you contact us. We’ll discuss your needs early and advise you on methods, budgets and give any other support we can offer you.
Your home survey
By visiting you at home, we can understand which items are going where and gauge the environment we’ll be working in. We’d also love to find out how active you want to be in the moving process. For example, you might want to do your own packing. That’s fine by us, but we’re equally happy to take care of everything for you. Our mantra is Moving Your Way; we work around your preferences.
Your move plan
Next, our surveyor will discuss your move plan with you. Like all of our staff, Robinsons surveyors are fully trained and experienced. The surveyor will work with a nominated Move Manager – your main liaison throughout the move. Together they will avoid any pitfalls or stress on your part.
We know that things can still be outside of your control, even at the final stage. For instance, dates can change. As protection from any last-minute setbacks, we offer our clients a Cancellation Waiver. That’s one less thing for you to worry about!

Frequently Asked Questions about Planning Your Move
Can we provisionally book a moving date?
Unfortunately we can’t take provisional bookings. A completion date has to be confirmed.
Will you do all my packing and unpacking?
Yes, but only if you want us to. It depends entirely on your preferences. We can carry out a full pack or a breakables-only pack. Both are cost-effective, but if you choose to, you can pack by yourself.
